About the team

Join the Environment & Sustainability team based in Brisbane CBD, facilitating the effective management of strategic environmental risks, including emerging climate change risks, through strategies, programs and practical processes.

About the role

The Principal Environmental Strategy Adviser will work closely with key stakeholders across the business, to foster a consistent, yet scalable approach to climate change planning and management. You will work to support the development and embedding of targeted plans and processes and the provision of related tools and guidance materials across Queensland Rail.

You can anticipate some of your responsibilities, amongst others to include;

  • Undertake internal and external benchmarking, to identify current practices and opportunities for improvement
  • Consult extensively with stakeholders across the business to gain clear perspective on risks, opportunities and limitations associated with climate change planning
  • Lead the development of practical tools and/or guidance materials, to enhance and streamline climate risk analysis and mitigation
  • Work directly with senior stakeholders, to support the integration of identified climate related risks and requirements,
  • Support the communication of risks, opportunities, and commitments to Queensland Rail's senior management

Our ideal candidates will possess:

  • Strong level of interpersonal, negotiation, consultation, relationship building and communication skills (Both verbal and written)
  • High level of leadership skills in a large and complex organisation, focused on building a customer focused, performance-based, sustainable culture
  • High level of skill in the development and/or implementation of organisational process, controls or programs to drive environmental outcomes
  • Extensive knowledge of environmental and/or asset management principles and issues including policy, legislation, technology, industry trends and risk management.
  • Understanding, or demonstrated ability to develop, of climate related risks and opportunities applicable to linear asset manager
