This position is accountable to the Director Planning and Environmental Services and will work closely with the Director to establish and implement the strategic direction of the Directorate. 

The successful incumbent will have a focus on ensuring staff activities and functions associated with the development, implementation and review of health, regulatory services, pest and animal management programs, waste, environmental and statutory licensing are effectively carried out. 

Experience and qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in relevant discipline in a local government environment or similar.
  • Highly developed and comprehensive knowledge of, and experience in, applying relevant legislation within a Local Government environment in relation to the areas of environment and environmental health, and regulatory services.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage and lead staff to produce results consistent with Council’s strategic direction.
  • Possession of an Occupational Health and Safety Construction Induction Card (“White Card”) or the ability to obtain prior to commencement.
  • Possession of immunisation record indicating Hepatitis A & B vaccinations or immunity; or the ability to be vaccinated in accordance with Council’s Immunisation Procedure.

Degree qualified in a relevant field, you will have worked in a similar position and ideally have experience working in local government. You will be able to provide examples of your success in previous roles and explain how you will apply your leadership style and translate your skills and experience to this role.

Based in Warwick, the position comes with an attractive Total Remuneration Package of up to $172K dependent upon experience. You will also have access to various benefits including flexible work arrangements. Relocation assistance may be provided to the right candidate.
