 Job Description

About the role

The Integrated Water Management Coordinator provides specialist advice in the forward planning, development and implementation of Integrated Water Management (IWM) opportunities to improve the effective use of the region’s water resources.

The coordinator will liaise with internal and external stakeholders to deliver innovative strategies that respond to the strategic sustainability of the region, delivering liveability, water security and waterway health outcomes.

Key responsibilities and duties

  • Identify, develop and implement IWM  proposals with other partners for a more liveable, sustainable and prosperous region
  • Coordinate the development of an integrated approach to water planning through engagement with councils, Traditional Owners, catchment authorities and other relevant agencies and stakeholders
  • Arrange and facilitate meetings of the region’s CEOs to promote the importance of a multi-agency IWM approach and determine priorities for the region
  • Work with government, Traditional Owners, consultants and the community in the review of planning schemes, the development of structure plans, and the review of relevant strategies
  • Provide input into policy development to improve resource use and collaboration across the region.

 

 Desired Skills and Experience

About you and your skills

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate and possess the following attributes.

  • Relevant qualifications with a degree/diploma in engineering, relevant science, or a relevant tertiary qualification
  • Experience in IWM is desirable, with knowledge of and familiarity of IWM issues in urban and rural environments
  • Expertise in facilitating multi-partner project teams and the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders to build and maintain strong working relationships
  • An understanding of Aboriginal self-determination and a commitment to developing or enhancing partnerships with Traditional Owners in IWM
  • Specialist knowledge in the application of catchment hydrology, water sensitive urban design and IWM principles.

This is a full-time ongoing position located in Warrnambool with a generous salary ($92,818.39 to $103,539.71), flexible working arrangements and rostered days off.
