The Natural Resource Management Strategy for Southern Tasmania 2010-2015 has been launched by the State's Minister for Environment, Parks and Heritage Brian Wightman.

The strategy outlines a framework for governments, landowners and industry "to address ongoing issues like catchment management and act on emerging issues like climate change".

The strategy, formed from consultations with 120 organizations and individuals, is intended to provide focus for natural resource management in the Southern Region and to improve integration and coordination of planning and activities, particularly between sectors and across geographical boundaries.

The strategy is designed to be referred to and incorporated into forthcoming strategies and plans to improve natural resource management in Southern Tasmania, including property-based plans, catchment management plans, regional land use and settlement plans.
