CFA is one of the world’s largest volunteer-based emergency service organisations which operates in an integrated setting well supported by career personnel, providing a diverse range of risk reduction and fire suppression services to minimise the impact of fires and other emergencies on the community. CFA operates across a broad risk environment, including bushfire, complex industrial and structural risks, as well as significant transport, institutional and hazardous materials risk environments.
The Executive Manager of Strategy, Capability and Innovation (SCI) will lead the team responsible for leading whole of organisation Strategy Planning, Innovation and Investment, within the Volunteers and Strategy Directorate.
The purpose of this group is to provide support to CFA service delivery through a centre of excellence and leadership that drives a risk and evidence based approach to the development and implementation of functions including strategy formulation, capability planning, service delivery planning, corporate and business unit planning, investment planning innovation coordination, and compliance and reporting.
The SCI team is responsible for ensuring that the operation of these functions is fully integrated and connects CFA from Brigade to State, and across all CFA Directorates. The team is also responsible for ensuring alignment of these functions with the Emergency Management Sector’s approach.
The Executive Manager of Strategy, Capability and Innovation leads the execution of these functions and in doing so, the position regularly liaises with and provides strategic advice to the CFA Board and Executive, and strategically influences and contributes to Emergency Management Victoria and the wider Emergency Management Sector
The person we are seeking will have proven leadership and management capabilities, including change management skills, and a demonstrated ability to inspire purpose and direction for the business unit. You will have a strong capacity for lateral thinking, creative problem solving and understanding for a broad scope of the organisation and how it functions. With values that align to that of the CFA, you will possess a high degree of self-awareness that will appreciate the context of the cultural environment and the responses required.
